Department of this institute celebrated Engineers’ Day 2011 on
Thursday,the 15 th September 2011 to commemorate the 151st Birth Anniversary of legendary personality, BharatRatna Sir Mokshagundam Visveswaraya. This Year Technical Quiz Competition and Practicals Competition was organised. 40 Students participated in Quiz Competition and 10 groups participated in practicals competition. In Quiz Competition, Sahil Sawant, Suchit Naik and Amey Kandolkar bagged the first three prizes whereas Akshata Shet & Neha Narvenkar, Laxman Salkar & Nikhil Nagade and Sunny Pangam & Vaibhav Gawas emerged victorious in the practicals competition. The prize distribution function was presided by Mr. M. H. Dani, HoD Mechanical Engg.
and Dr. P. P. Savoikar, HoD Civil Engg.

"Earth Retaining Structures & Centrifuge Modeling Applications

Civil Engineering Department of this institute is organising a one week Staff Development Programme on Earth Retaining Structures and Centifuge Modeling Applications from 23rd to 27th May 2011 in the institute premises. This course is organised with an objective to provide a platform for academicians and engineers in Civil and Mining industry to participate, deliberate and desseminate the state of art knowledge in GeoTechnical Engineering and Centrifuge Modeling Applications. All faculty members from AICTE recognised Polytechnics and Degree Engineering Colleges are eligible to participate in this programme. Total number of participants is restricted to 40. Last date to apply is 12th May 2011.

Department of this institute celebrated Engineers’ Day 2010 on
Tuesday, the 21st September 2010 to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of legendary personality, BharatRatna Sir Mokshagundam
Visveswaraya. Function was presided by The Principal, Mr. Subhash Borkar
and The Chief Guest Mr. Jayant Pai Vernekar. On this occasion an expert
lecture on the topic “Non Destructive Testing of Concrete
Structures and Thermography” was delivered by eminent consultant
Mr. Jayant Pai Vernekar, Consultant and Director of JVP Building Systems,
Panaji. The talk was followed by demonstration of various NDT instruments
like Schmidt Hammer, Profoscope, Ultrasonic Tester, Thermal Camera etc.

Quiz Competition "The Brain Squiz 2010", was organised by
Government Polytechnic Mayem Bicholim Goa, on 31st August 2010, in the
institute under the overall Inchargeship of Shri. Gajesh G.S. Usgaonkar,
Lecturer in Mechanical Engg. & Workshop Incharge and Event
Co-ordinators Shri. Devendraprasad C. Kuvelkar, Lecturer in Computer
Engg. & Incharge Computer Section and Ms. Anar Sangodkar, Lecturer in
Communication Skills.
Eleven institutes
from Goa participated in the event. RIET, Shiroda were the winners and
PCCE, Verna were the runners-up. Prizes were given at the hands of the
Chief Guest, Shri. Pratapsingh Raoji Rane, Honourable Speaker of the Goa
Legislative Assembly. Shri. Anant Shet, MLA, Mayem Constituency, was the
Guest of Honour. Principal, Shri. Subhash Borkar welcomed the gathering.
Chief Guest in his speech cited the importance of the students' community
for building a strong future of our country. Shri. Anant Shet also spoke
on the occassion. Winner of Banner Competition, held in the institute was
also awarded a prize on the occasion.
